The upcoming adventure tourer from Royal Enfield - the RE Himalayan - will be launched on March 16, sources in Royal Enfield have confirmed to carandbike.com. Although there's been no confirmation on the price yet, the Royal Enfield Himalayan is expected to be priced around 1.8 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The RE Himalayan will be powered by an all-new 411cc, single-cylinder, overhead cam, air cooled engine producing 24.5bhp power at 6,500rpm and 32Nm of torque at 4,500rpm. What's unique is that this is the first Royal Enfield engine which will be moving away from the push-rod architecture, instead having overhead cams. So, there is no tappet adjustment required, and the engine is expected to be free revving with a wider power band than any Royal Enfield engine in production till now. The new engine will also have longer service intervals - with 10,000km between oil changes.
